Sept. 11, 2023 by The Bible Church

[Amendment of dates from previous email - 7 & 14 Oct are the correct dates for the seminar]

As we are going through the book of Acts. Would you be interested in finding out what Bible Church is doing to reach out across cultures? These 2 upcoming Zoom seminars and workshops on 7 and 14 October 2023 (Saturdays) from 1.00pm to 4.15pm would be just the place to do so!

Each seminar will have an exposition of selected passages from the book of Acts followed by a workshop related to cross-cultural outreach.

Seminar 1 (7 October)

  • Exposition - Commitment to Cross-Cultural Outreach: The Church in Antioch (Speaker: Dr Ajith Fernando).
How a busy urban church with local challenges could still be committed to the challenge of taking the gospel to the unreached.
  • Workshop - Reaching the Marginalized Communities Overseas (Facilitators: TBC Young Adults Mission Team)
How do we reach and empower the marginalized communities overseas? What are some challenges faced by children and youths who are displaced? This workshop will help offer insights as to how education assistance programs such as GoToSchool or GoToUni program can bring dignity and equality to the marginalized communities overseas.

Seminar 2 (14 October)

  • Exposition - Principles of Cross-Cultural Outreach: Paul's Ministry in Athens (Speaker: Dr Ajith Fernando)
What will it take for us to break barriers and effectively communicate the gospel to unreached peoples.
  • Workshop - Befriending Friends from Other Culture (Facilitator: Tami Koh from Interserve, Singapore)
The lack of cultural understanding has created a divide that must be bridged so that we can be representatives of Christ to the sons and daughters of Ishmael. This workshop will help offer insights into our friend’s worldview as well as giving us some handles in building friendships that point to Christ.

Dr Ajith Fernando was the National Director of Youth for Christ in Sri Lanka for thirty-five years and now serves as its Teaching Director, spending much time mentoring and counselling young Christian workers.
