Loy Ra and Tang Nita, former orphans, now serve in youth ministry and study at Bible School. A new Community Centre in Kampong Sleng Village supports outreach efforts. Prayers requested for their family, ministry, and community impact.

Loy Ra came to stay with us in 2014 and Tang Nita joined two years later when they got engaged. The couple were both youths from the Hope Orphanage whom we knew since 2009, and they are now married with two children. Ra and Nita are called to serve as local leaders in our Youths Discipleship ministry, and they followed God’s leading for them to study at the Phnom Penh Bible School.

They have started on a course in Christian Ministry since January this year. Being matured students, they are committed and disciplined, and do very well in their studies due to the ministry experience and foundational training they received from us. Their Bible School stint is not without trials, and the first setback came with Ra having kidney stones which necessitates an operation and hospitalization for an extended period, but it is a significant milestone for the sustainability of our ministry.

The Bible Church expanded our existing kindergarten at Kampong Sleng Village to have a new Community Centre that serves as a platform to reach out to nearby village communities. The building was completed in January and an Opening ceremony was held on 24 Feb’24, where Elder Chin Tiong inaugurated the opening with the local community leaders.

The centre is used for Community meetings and training such as healthcare, livelihood projects and family- building workshops, and community events like the recent Medical and Dental clinic by a Singapore mission team. It is also used for our regular house church meetings, Sunday school and English class for the children, as well as to provide a venue for training of local church leaders.

The Equip Asia training is conducted here monthly and will conclude in December this year. In the years ahead, this new Community centre can serve to spread Christian influences to the nearby village communities in Prey Veng province.

Prayer Requests

  • Pray for strength and wisdom to lead the local ministry team, and to care for the physical needs and spiritual growth of the youths in our household. Pray especially for the 12 students who have accepted Christ, and for permission from their parents for them to be baptised.
  • Pray for Ra to recover completely from the kidney stone operation; and for God to grant Ra and Nita strength to endure hardship and overcome difficulties, and to persevere on with their studies. Pray also for blessings upon their marriage relationship and bonding with their two children, and their continual commitment to the mission that God has called them to.
  • Pray for continual development of the Children ministry and the House church at Kampong Sleng Village. Pray also for the Community Centre to have significant impact in reaching out to nearby village communities through various community events, and to unite Christian workers and house churches in Prey Veng through training and fellowship.
